The Way Down Wanderers played at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom on January 14th. This Chicago based quintet uses traditional acoustic folk instruments and tight harmonies to create their unique brand of pop-folk. They opened the show with “No Braking Now”, a hopeful anthem that shouts “Cause days aren’t for the taking these days are what you make them/ You can’t erase them but you can change them all”. Austin, guitar, and Collin, who plays fiddle and mandolin, met in Illinois and started The Way Down Wanderers in 2013. They have released two EP’s “Path to Follow” and the newest, titled “Wellspring”. Next month they will begin recording their first full-length album. Their winter tour stopped in Macon on their way to the Baygrass Bluegrass Festival in the Florida Keys. Georgia residents have another opportunity to see them when they play in Milledgeville, GA next week.
